The Monty Python Spamalot musical sends King Arthur’s quest to find the Holy Grail and is seen as an ideal production to put a smile on people’s faces after two years of inactivity due to the lockdown.
Directed by Ben Hollas, with Julian Brown as musical director, the show will be staged later in the year and auditions for all parts will take place on Wednesday, May 18, at 7:30 p.m., at the theatre.
Artistic director Iain Reddihough said: “There are roles for everyone, but the lead roles of King Arthur, Sir Lancelot, Patsy, Sir Robin and Sir Bedevere provide a great opportunity for actors and singers to showcase their talent.
“People coming to audition will be asked to read clips from the show and sing a song from the show as well as one of their choice. What better way to restart our own series of productions could there be than to put performing classic comedy, in musical form?
“We know there are many artists who have been ‘starved’ for the fun of performing and with far fewer opportunities to perform now than there were pre-pandemic, we look forward to having good attendance at auditions.
“In addition to ensuring a high standard of production, Theater on the Steps always tries to make rehearsals and performances a fun and enjoyable experience for the cast and crew so that there is something for everyone. “
