The Witch of Mercury Reveals Her Staff, Characters, and More

The next Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch of Mercury revealed its setting, main characters, mecha, and staff, along with a new visual that offers a brighter, clearer look at the protagonist and his Gundam antenna.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch of Mercury takes place in the year 122 of the AS era (Ad Stella). The website describes the premise as follows:

An era where a multitude of companies entered the space and built a huge economic system.
A lonely girl from the distant planet Mercury transfers to Asticassia’s school of technology,
run by the Beneritt Group which dominates the mobile suit industry.

The anime’s protagonist is named Suletta Mercury, and she is a sophomore in the piloting department of Asticassia. Hailing from the planet Mercury, Suletta is described as being shy and “somewhat” lacking in communication skills.

The other main characters are second-year Management Strategy Department student Miorine Rembran and several third-year students from the piloting department, the latter of which includes Guel Dilanza pilot Guel Jeturk, Gundam Pharact pilot Elan Ceres and Michaelis driver Shaddiq Zenelli. The pilots are each affiliated with one of the three branches of the Benerittt group.

As for the staff, Hiroshi Kobayashi (Dragon Pilot: Hisone and Masotan, Kiznaiver) directed Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch of Mercury with Ryou Andou (Monster Girl Interviews) assist and Ichirou Ookouchi (Code Geass) as the series’ composer. Illustrator Mogumo is the original character designer, while Mary Tagashira (Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash character animation director), Akari Toida (Gundam Build Divers Battlogue), and Hirotoshi Takaya (Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt animation character designer) are the character designers. Sunrise is the animation production company.

Other staff members include sci-fi author Yuya Takashima as a science fiction researcher, Ayumu Satou (Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise) as artistic director, Kazuko Kikuchi (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) as a color creator, Shinichi Miyakaze (SSSS.GRIDMAN) as 3DCG Director, Shota Kodera (Girls Frontline) as director of photography, and Takashi Ohmama (Mobile Suit Gundam: Twilight Axis) as a music composer.

Additionally, it was revealed that the PROLOGUE “Forweword episode” will premiere on July 14. It was previously announced that it will be screened at the GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE -LINK THE UNIVERSE- event this summer.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch of Mercury is set to premiere in Japan in October with an overseas simulcast planned. Oricon reported that the show is intended to secure young fans around the world.
