A musical theater in Chesham celebrates its big birthday with a production of my beautiful lady.
The Chesham Musical Theater Company is preparing a production of the classic my beautiful lady show at the Elgiva Theater in Chesham from 11-15 May at 7.30pm and show at 2.30pm at weekends.
The adaptation of George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion marks the theater troupe’s centenary.
Bex Bradburn, Honorary Band Secretary, said: “My Fair Lady is a hugely popular musical and it was important to us that we came back strong, not only after our forced hiatus during the pandemic, but also to celebrate our very year special centenary with such a big production.

“There are so many people involved both onstage and behind the scenes that make it possible to put on such an important show.
“And despite the challenges of Covid and absences to keep the cast and crew safe, everyone brought so much enthusiasm and energy to the show.”

The Chesham Musical Theater Company was formed in 1922 as ‘The Cestreham Singers and Players’ while performing Gilbert and Sullivan operettas.
Their more modern production of musicals began in 1977 with the performance of fiddler on the roof.
Since then, they have given many shows such as Oklahoma!, guys and dolls and Jesus Christ Superstar.
Unfortunately, the pandemic has disrupted their production of 9 to 5: the musical just a week before its March 2020 stage release.
Ms Bradburn added: “It will be really, really special after almost two years without being able to do what we love, and on behalf of the company, I want to thank everyone involved in the production for their commitment and, in anticipation, our audience for your continued support.”
