The best moments aboard the all-new Disney cruise ship Wish

Disney Cruise Line’s newly christened and long-awaited Disney Wish cruise ship offers “incredible creativity,” according to Thomas Mazloum, president of Disney Signature Experiences.

Designed to be the perfect vacation spot for families, the Disney Wish is packed with unique offerings that touch the heart of what the Disney product is.

“I’m so excited because I think we’ve taken storytelling to a whole new level,” Mazloum told TravelPulse. “When you walk the ship here, it’s about Disney stories and it’s really about the uniqueness of this sailing, whether it’s Disney, Marvel, Pixar or Star Wars.”

Not only does the ship pay incredible attention to detail throughout the design and decoration of the ship, but it is also a much more environmentally friendly ship. The 144,000 gross ton ship is powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is the cruise industry’s latest feature designed to help the ship produce fewer emissions.

The plethora of experiences available to guests also makes it the “vacation of a lifetime”, according to Mazloum.

“Sometimes when you’re taking vacations, especially with larger families, sometimes some family members have to make a little compromise to accommodate everyone,” Mazloum told TravelPulse. “What excites me about this ship here is that I really feel the whole ship, how we designed it, whether it’s the adult areas, whether it’s the children’s areas, whether it’s teenagers, which I believe we’ve really made it possible to have a nice, relaxed vacation where everyone can really have their own vacation.

“They can get together for dinner or whatever, but at the same time you really get what I call the Disney vacation. I truly believe whether you are a solo traveler whether you are an adult or coming with a family with a child or coming with multi-generational people traveling I believe there is something for everyone and no one don’t have to compromise because everyone is having the vacation of a lifetime.

The majority of the ship’s 1,254 total staterooms have ocean views, 877 of which feature verandas. There are 76 concierge cabins and suites, all with access to the two-level concierge lounge.

The ship features four Royal Suites and the magnificent Wish Tower Suite, which is the first of its kind for the cruise industry. The 1,966 square foot penthouse suite is located in the forward funnel of the ship and includes private elevator access to the bedroom.

“Disney Wish was clearly created with entertainment in mind…you look at every corner of this ship and it’s immersed in entertainment,” said Ashley Long, cruise director for Disney Wish.

And one of the most entertaining things aboard the ship is Disney’s first-ever at-sea attraction. The AquaMouse is a two-person water ride that sits high on the upper deck and begins with bustling scenes from the Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse before sending you into a wet whirlwind through 760 feet of winding tubes. There are two different shorts here, so you’ll have to roll a few times to make sure you see both.

Other workout options include the Never Land and Wonderland Cinemas, which will screen new Disney movies for the duration of the trip, as well as the two musical shows at the Walt Disney Theater. “Disney Seas the Adventure” chronicles Goofy’s dream of being a ship captain and features fan-favorite Disney songs. The other show is the highly anticipated musical “Little Mermaid” which was created especially for this cruise.

There’s also the HeroZone arena area, which is a two-story space that doubles as a basketball/soccer court at the base and has air hockey, ping pong, and foosball at the top. Customers can expect it to be at its most crowded the day it is set up with the Incredibles inflatable obstacle course.

To eat

There are three main dining rooms for guests to peruse, as well as two adults-only restaurants at Palo Steakhouse and Enchante by Michelin-star chef Arnaud Lallement.

1923 is the more traditional style main restaurant that you would expect to see on a cruise ship. But Disney has really taken it to the next level with the other two main dining experiences in World of Marvel and Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure.

Both breathe new life into the term “dinner and show”. We don’t want to spoil it all, but guests will have the chance to interact with Else, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Oaken during the Frozen Dining adventure as everyone celebrates Anna and Kristoff’s engagement, and Ant-Man and The Wasp run the show. with the help of great superheroes during World of Marvel meals.

Guests can have a buffet breakfast at Marceline Market or opt for a restaurant-style eatery with 1923. Lunch is also available at Market, but we recommend stopping by Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods at least once to try a taco at Donald’s Cantina, pizza at Daisy’s Pizza Pies, brisket at Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue, chicken tenders at Goofy’s Grill and of course a vanilla and chocolate swirl in a cone at Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream.

For kids

For children from 3 to 12 years old, the Oceaneer’s Club is the ideal place.

“I’m extremely excited about our spaces for kids, children and families,” Mazloum told TravelPulse. “When you really walk through, you see it’s not just a big space with a ton of stuff, it’s very well thought out, it’s very immersive. Every child really gets to be their own hero.

“That’s why we focus so much on the actual programming. We don’t just want to keep the kids busy, we want them to have truly meaningful memories when they go away and we want their parents to be happy.

This area includes Star Wars Cargo Bay and Marvel Superhero Academy, which are sure to be big hits for kids as they get to interact with Rey and Chewbacca from Star Wars and Black Panther and Spiderman from Marvel.

Other Oceaneer’s Club features include Fairytale Hall where kids can interact with Disney Princesses, and the Walt Disney Imagineering Lab gives kids a chance to participate in experiments to let their creativity run wild. This is where they can create and ride their own (virtual) roller coaster.

There’s also the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Experience for an additional fee if your little ones want to be pampered like a princess, knight or captain.

For adults

Disney made sure to deliver for adults, whether they have kids or not. The climax for adults is sure to be up for debate given the options available.

For some, it will be the Quiet Cove area with its swimming pool, bar, cafe and panoramic views over the stern of the ship. Others will find bliss at the Senses Spa and Salon, which offers the first outdoor spa retreat aboard a Disney cruise ship.

The Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge will probably be the most popular Instagram and TikTok spot with its unique atmosphere.

For those who enjoy sipping cocktails and listening to music, the favorite spot will be on nights split between The Bayou, inspired by a love for New Orleans, and Nightingales, a chic piano bar themed after the Nightingale song. .
Disney even caters to beer lovers with Keg & Compass, with 3 unique craft beers created exclusively for the ship.

The Disney Wish ship will depart from homeport of Port Canaveral and offer three- and four-night cruises to Nassau, the Bahamas and Castaway Cay, Disney Cruise Line’s private island. The first passenger cruise is scheduled for July 14, 2022.
