The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) has launched a competition for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)/startups in the product manufacturing space and creatives in the branding industry.
The hackathon was launched to commemorate its third anniversary in May.
“To mark this great occasion, the Secretary General, HE Wamkele Mene, and the AfCFTA champion, the former President of Niger, HE Mahamadou Issoufou, warmly invite SMEs/Startups to the product manufacturing space, as well as brand artists and other brand creators who can help these SMEs to refresh the brand identity of their products to boost sales, to participate in a Hackathon,” the AfCFTA said in a statement.
Participants interested in joining the hackathon must indicate their interest in one of the following three categories:
1. Graphic and visual design for brands (upload brand art samples)
2. Voice and Musical Arts for Brands (Download Sample Jingles for Brands)
3. SMBs/startups (upload product photos and sample packaging artwork).
Application forms will be open until May 10, 2022.
Successful artists/musicians will be paired with selected SMEs/startups by May 12 – and joint creative and entrepreneurial teams to deliver final designs (refreshed brand identity as evidenced by sample labels/packaging and jingles) by May 19.
The AfCFTA said the best collaborative production, judged by its hackathon partners in malls and supermarkets, will be rewarded with prizes and spotlighting opportunities across Africa during the 3rd anniversary celebrations.
