Shereen Ahmed completes cast of Classic Stage Company’s Ahrens and Flaherty’s revival A man of no importance

Shereen Ahmed (my lovely lady national tour) will star in the upcoming Classic Stage Company Off-Broadway revival of Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty and Terrence McNally A man of no importance in the role of Adele Rice. Led by outgoing CSC Artistic Director John Doyle, the production is scheduled to begin performances Oct. 11 and run through Dec. 4, with an opening night Oct. 30.

Ahmed rounds out the production cast, joining previously announced cast members Jim Parsons as Alfie Byrne, Mare Winningham (North country girl) as Lily Byrne, Alma Cuervo (On your feet!) as Miss Oona Crowe, Kara Mikula (The cradle will tip over) as Mrs. Rideau, Da’Von T. Moody (16 AD) as Breton Beret, Tony candidate Mary Beth Peil (Anastasia) as Mrs. Grace, Thom Sesma (Pacific Openings) as Mr. Carney, Tony AJ Shively’s contestant (place of paradise) as Robbie Fay, Nathaniel Stampley (place of paradise) as Father Kenny, Jessica Tyler Wright (allegro) as Mrs. Patrick, Joel Wagoner (school of rock) as Ernie Lally and William Youmans (Kill a mockingbird) like Baldy O’Shea.

Based on the 1994 film by Albert Finney, the musical tells the story of an amateur theater group in 1960s Dublin and their leader, bus driver Alfie Byrne, who is determined to stage a production of Oscar Wilde. Doyle, Tony winner for his actor-musician cover of Sweeney Todd, will also provide stage design for the production, with costumes by Ann Hould Ward, lighting by Adam Honoré, sound design by Sun Hee Kil and casting by Craig Burns of The Telsey Office. Orchestrations are by Bruce Coughlin and Caleb Hoyer will conduct the music. Bernita Robinson is production manager with Hollace Jeffords as assistant manager.

CSC’s revival is produced by special arrangement with Tom Kirdahy and Mara Isaacs.
