Recruitment firm staff walk, run and roll for the charity Mind

Berry Recruitment Group staff have raised nearly £2,500 for mental health charity Mind – by running 421 miles.

Mileage is the distance between the group’s branches in Cornwall and Darlington and staff were encouraged to travel this distance as they wished.

They walked, ran and cycled and the group – headquartered in St Albans, with a branch in Osney Mead, Oxford – donated a pound for every mile they walked.

In the end, a distance of 2,431 miles was achieved – almost six times farther than the target; meaning £2,431 was raised during Mental Health Awareness Month.

Further donations from those taking part increased the amount awarded to £2,715.

Chief Executive Chris Chown said: “Mental health is something everyone has and we all want it to be better rather than worse.

“Mind is a charity that does fantastic work helping those who are hurting and also raising awareness.

“We hope our donation will help Mind, but the process has also shown our staff the benefits of good mental health.

“In addition, exercise is known to improve mental health and participants exchanged photos and experiences in a WhatsApp group.

“Employees from all of our branches have been involved and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

“In the past, mental health was a taboo subject, but now it’s a priority for all good employers.”
