WASHINGTON DC, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, USA, April 8, 2022 / — In a video about his release, the musician EMERLD explains how he created his works for The Noam Chomsky Music Project by bringing his touch to the conferences of the “Father of Linguistics”.

The Noam Chomsky Music Project, run by the Synesthesia Media label, is an expansive global effort to broadcast American linguist Noam Chomsky’s lectures and amplify his voice in innovative ways, delivering his words through one of the art forms the most universally powerful: music. The project was created by Ian Urbinean investigative journalist who founded the music label Synesthesia Media.

The goal of the musical project is to preserve and celebrate Chomsky’s worldview. Spanning genres from classical to hip-hop to electronic, dozens of musicians from around the world have joined the effort. Many of the artists involved in the project draw inspiration from audio archives of Chomsky’s lectures that Synesthesia Media spent over a year building.

Chef by day and beatmaker by night, producer EMERLD was born and raised in England and is currently based in Cologne, Germany.

Before joining The Noam Chomsky Music Project, EMERLD was unfamiliar with his work. However, he plunged directly into the musical project and composed his works after listening to Chomsky’s lectures.

“I ended up selecting two speech samples that, for me, moved me in two completely different directions,” EMERLD said.

The vocal chops used on “Better” created an extremely upbeat and positive vibe and were reflected in the song’s chords. In contrast, in “The Wind Down”, EMERLD used a section of an interview that evoked a much sadder emotion.

“(It’s) where Chomsky considers what kind of real change all of his efforts are bringing, and whether it’s worth it,” EMERLD said. “This somewhat darker theme is reflected in the music through moody chords and a long pensive instrumental breakdown.”

“The Gap”, by EMERLD for The Noam Chomsky Music Project, is available on all stores, including Apple Music, YouTube and Spotify.
