Have theater, go travel! The MNM Theater Company will perform at two venues in Palm Beach County during the 2022-23 season.
The award-winning company’s first production of the season, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, will take place at the Willow Theater at Sugar Sand Park in Boca Raton, and Disenchanted will have its South Florida premiere at the Rinker Playhouse at the Kravis Center for performing arts in West Palm Beach. A third production, scheduled for the Willow Theater in April 2023, will be announced in the coming weeks.
“We are very excited about our next season,” said Marcie Gorman, Production Artistic Director and CEO of MNM Theater Company. “The shows we have chosen are fun, funny and very clever, and we know they will appeal to audiences of all ages. And our new venue, the Willow Theatre, is a beautiful space – intimate and inviting, and we look forward to looking forward to bringing MNM to a whole new South County audience. And we’re excited to return to the Kravis Center as well.
The 25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, the Tony and Drama Desk award-winning musical that has charmed audiences across the country, features an eclectic cast of six pubescents vying for the spelling championship of their lives. While candidly revealing hilarious and touching stories from their lives at home, the tweens weave their way through a series of (potentially made up) words, hoping to never hear the crushing, pout-inducing “ding.” and inaffirming the life of the bell that signals a spelling error. Six spells enter – one spell leaves! At least the losers get a box of juice. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will take place at the Willow Theater from December 2-18.
Disenchanted will debut in South Florida at the Kravis Center May 9-28, 2023: “Poison Apples. Glass slippers. Who needs it? everything except Grimm. Forget the princesses you think you know. These royal renegades will ditch their tiaras to bring their hilarious, subversive, not-for-kids musical to the Rinker Playhouse – and fairy tales will never be the same!”
The three 2022-2023 MNM Theater Company productions will be directed by Jonathan Van Dyke.
