Marc Anthony joins Koati as executive and musical producer

Grammy-winning artist Marc Anthony and his team at Magnus Studios will team up with Sofia Vergara’s animated comedy, Koati. The film is produced by Upstairs Animation, Latin WE Productions and Los Hijos de Jack.

Koati follows three unlikely heroes: Nachi, a free-spirited cloak; Xochi, a fearless monarch butterfly, and Pako, an overactive glass frog, as they embark on an adventure to stop an evil coral snake Zaina (Vergara) from destroying their homeland and friends.

The project’s soundtrack, produced by Anthony and produced by Grammy-winning producer and composer Julio Reyes Copello, will feature 10 original songs performed by some of Latin music’s most notable names and will be released on the Magnus / Sony Music Latin labels. . and will be distributed by Sony Music Latin worldwide.

A passionate project over the past decade, the film has been developed by producer / creator Anabella Dovarganes-Sosa, executive producer / chief story consultant Melissa Escobar, and executive producer and lead actress Sofia Vergara.

Hailing from Venezuela and Colombia, the three longtime partners and entertainment executives will introduce families around the world to the magical realism of the rainforest featuring the fun and exotic creatures that call it ‘home’. Luis Balaguer (Latin WE) and Felipe Pimiento (Magnus Studios) will also act as executive producers.

Produced simultaneously in English and Spanish, the cast includes the voices of Oscar nominee Adriana Barraza (Babel), Joe Manganiello (Justice League) and Eduardo Franco (Strange things, Booksmart).

Two young World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) ambassadors in lead roles include actors / musicians Evaluna Montaner (Club 57) and Sebastián Villalobos (Soy Luna), among other surprise cameos from renowned international actors and musicians.

Latin American talents follow one another from director Rodrigo Pérez-Castro (story artist on Ferdinand and Rio 2), production designer and visual development artist Simón Varela (Book of life, The world of Nemo), writer and cultural consultant Ligiah Villalobos (Under the same moon, coconut), and acclaimed producer Julio Reyes Copello, who also composed the score for the film.

Having kept much of the project largely secret, Timeless films will be the company responsible for presenting and selling the film to potential distribution partners.
