ITV Britain’s Got Talent under fire as fan brand performance ‘unsuitable’ for family show

Fans of ITV Britain’s Got Talent slammed a Moulin Rouge performance from the first semi-final last night. The live semi-final took place on ITV from 8 p.m. Monday.

The West End cast of Moulin Rouge appeared at the top of the show. But their performance had some moaning at home on social media.

Some complained that the show’s performance was unsuitable. RSK tweeted: “If I had booked tickets for the Moulin Rouge musical, I would request an immediate refund.”

Fearsome fumed, “I was thinking the exact same thing, not le grand moulin rouge #bgt #pooract tbh not the best act to pick for a family show either.” Ft wrote: “Me too. Glad I’m not the only one. Why have sex crushing moves and dancers in underwear spinning in front of kids. The show itself is declared ‘not suitable for under 12’ years “so why on #BritainsGotTalentI also agree the vocals weren’t up to par.”

The hit musical, which continues to run at London’s Piccadilly Theatre, is based on the much-loved turn-of-the-century film about a Parisian courtesan who falls in love with a writer.

The West End production, directed by Liisi LaFontaine (Dreamgirls) as Satine, Jamie Bogyo (making her West End debut) as Christian and Clive Carter (Come From Away) as Harold Zidler, opened in November 2021 with an opening party in January this year.
