VERMILLION, SD — University of South Dakota assistant athletic director Bryan Boettcher announced the addition of Evan Maldonado to the sports information staff. Maldonado will be the primary media contact for men’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer and golf.

Maldonado is a Hutchinson native and played college basketball and golf at Central Christian College in Kansas where he earned a degree in sports management and a minor in music. He was a graduate assistant at Fort Hays State University and earned his Masters of Science in Health and Human Performance.

“Evan’s experiences make him the ideal candidate for this position, and he comes highly recommended by our friends at Fort Hays State,” Boettcher said. “I’m thrilled he and his wife have chosen USD and Vermillion for their next adventure.”

Maldonado managed social media accounts while serving as an assistant athletic director as an undergrad at Central Christian. At Fort Hays State, he served as the primary contact for women’s soccer and men’s cross country, wrote feature articles and designed media guides, among other assignments.

“I’m excited for this opportunity to work and learn in a great environment here in South Dakota,” Maldonado said. “The staff have made my wife and I feel very welcome in the short time we’ve been here. I’m grateful that Bryan chose me for this position, and I’m happy to be here. in Vermillion.”
