Excitement as Scunthorpe singer makes London stage debut in brand new musical

A Scunthorpe performer recently made her stage debut in London at the world premiere of a new musical.

Amy Leek – who attended Queen Elizabeth’s High School in Gainsborough – graduated from Liverpool Theater School last year after winning a prestigious Andrew Lloyd Webber musical theater scholarship. Now she has just starred in the highly anticipated show ‘For You I’d Wait’, which ran until May 21 at the Turbine Theater in Battersea Power Station.

The musical was created by writing duo Golby and West and follows six characters before, during and after the 2015 Paris terrorist attacks. Set to a contemporary rock score, the show explores how their lives are turned upside down in one night , as well as the process of healing and learning to continue.

Amy discovered her passion for the stage at the Duckegg Theater Company at the age of nine before completing a Trinity Diploma in Professional Musical Theater at Liverpool Theater School.

She said, “I’m so honored to be part of such a special show. I feel incredibly lucky to work in an industry I love after graduating from Liverpool Theater School, which has really helped prepare me for the world of professional musical theatre.

Director of Liverpool Theater School Maxine Ellis added: ‘Nothing makes me more proud than to see our students and graduates perform and I am delighted that Amy is making her London stage debut in ‘For You I’ dWait”. She is an extremely talented performer with a bright future ahead of her and I wish her every success with the show.
