COLUMBIANA — A Trumbull County event planning firm is looking to attract business to that county, starting with the town of Columbiana.
Moxie Events LLC, based in the town of Warren, wants to start hosting Dinner on Main Street events throughout the county, but hopes to start with the town.
Dinner on Main Street events are already taking place throughout the Mahoning Valley during the months of August, September and October.
Asha Gregory, director of marketing and special project manager for J. Saul Campbell and Company and Moxie Events, pitched the idea to the city earlier this month.
The idea is to have a dinner party on the main street that would consist of live music, entertainment and even dancing. The event would be done by ticket purchase only and would be bounded in a specific area.
The company hoped to hold the event in the city on August 5, to coincide with the First Friday event that month.
First Fridays are hosted by the Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce and are held in June, July, and August each year.
Gregory said the event would be large enough to accommodate 50-75 guests. If approved by the city, tickets will be purchased through the Moxie Events website or various Columbiana social media sites.
Gregory said $10 from each ticket purchase will go to the city’s downtown revitalization project.
“We will give back to your community”, she says.
City council members were supportive of the idea, but were unsure how the event would coincide with the First Friday event, as young children were likely running around in this area.
Gregory said the company could consider other dates if needed. If a date is chosen and the event is approved by the council, a rain date will also be scheduled.
Gregory and the board agreed to look into the matter.
