With zero moves in Harsh Varrdhan (yes, that’s how he spells his name now), Kapoor’s career dad Anil Kapoor (who didn’t change the spelling of his name) took over the reins. of his son’s career.

The father and son couple will be seen in Thar produced by Anil Kapoor and directed by actor-turned-director Raj Singh Chaudhary. It will stream on Netflix starting May 6.

Interestingly, Anil Kapoor and beta Harsh Varrdhan (with two ‘r’s) are not interpreted as father and son in Thar. Harsh plays an antique dealer in Rajasthan while Anil is a local cop.

Speaking about the film, Anil Kapoor says, “Harshvarrdhan has a very unique approach and his film choices are also very distinct. The movie was introduced to me by Harshvarrdhan and he was very passionate about the project and he was instrumental in making this movie happen. The story strikes the perfect balance between gritty and smooth, gritty and smooth, fast-paced yet nuanced. This is Harshvarrdhan’s first film as a producer and I could see the passion in him from the start. It’s an experience and I can’t wait for the public to watch it!

Speaking about the project, Anil Kapoor said, “I’m extremely proud of what we’ve achieved with Thar and I’m super excited about the film for a number of reasons. The genre itself – a dark thriller set in Rajasthan that pays homage to the classic western genre – is a first for Indian cinema and audiences.

Anil has a flowery description of the movie that will hopefully bring his son back into the limelight. “Thar is a playground where the dynamism of new blood meets the experience of industry stalwarts, both on and off screen. On screen we see the new couple of Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor and Fatima Sana Sheikh and off screen we see director Raj Singh Chaudhary creating magic with a team of ambitious, risk-taking debutantes – cinematographer Shreya Dev Dube and music composer Ajay Jayanthi. ”

Anil says his goals as an actor and producer are chalked out. “I’ve always strived (sic.) to push boundaries and disrupt (sic.) the status quo with innovative content. Thar is a manifestation of that obsession and I’m thrilled to have such a supportive and collaborative partner as Netflix to take this story as far as possible.

Anil had agreed to play Olympian shooter Abhinav Bindra’s father in a bio-picture featuring Harsh Varrdhan as his son. It was to be directed by Kannan Iyer who directed the weird Ek Thi Daayan. The project is shelved.
