The Angels Theater Company Board of Directors has appointed Timothy W. Scholl as the company’s executive director.
Scholl served as interim manager during the 2021-22 season. Previously, he served on the TAC Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Board from 2018 to 2021.
“Having served as the past Chairman of the Board, we are confident that Timothy will excel in aligning ATC’s operational and artistic focus with the organization’s stated mission and purpose,” said Maribel Cruz. , current chair of the board of directors. “Timothy’s vision as a theater professional is rooted in his extensive experience as a director, playwright and scholar. With his passion for developing new plays, analyzing scripts, bizarre anecdotes in theater history and obscure 18th century playwrights, he is destined to have a lasting impact on the future of the Angels. Scholl is the company’s fourth artistic director. He will continue to guide the organization in the creation, development and production of new works for Lincoln and surrounding communities.

Most recently, Scholl led the world premiere of local playwright Nancy Shank’s “This Mortal Life Also” at the Lied Center for Performing Arts Johnny Carson Theater in March. He previously also directed the premiere of Brigid Amos’ new work “Losing the Ring in the River” in 2018. Scholl also manages the company’s Salon Reading series, which focuses on reading new plays on the first Sunday of each month.
Angels Theater Company annually presents the Salon Reading Series, Solo Tales & Ales, First Flight Festival and New Work Development Series, in addition to productions of new plays. Additionally, the Playwriting Collective is an organization within the Angels Theater Company that provides a forum for area playwrights to review and critique new plays in progress.
