After success in Australia, the pop-up restaurant that promises great food but ‘rude’ staff has come to the UK to let you ‘live your Karen dreams’.
Karen’s Diner has opened Down Under for the first time with restaurants in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne inviting customers to come “vent their anger” over a burger and a shake.
Now the concept has arrived in Sheffield, with ‘100% rude staff’, artisan burgers and ‘fantastic’ drinks on the menu.
The website explains, “Karen’s is an interactive restaurant and an absurdly fun experience. At Karens, you will be greeted and served by rude waiters who, in return, expect you to give him Karen’s full. A place where you can complain until the cows come home because we literally don’t care.
“You can expect great food, fun and a dining experience like you’ve never had before. Let us know if it’s your birthday, if your name is Karen and for Karen’s sake, don’t ask to speak to the manager…”
And if you call yourself Karen, you can even enjoy freebies on the house.
“If your name is actually Karen, we’ll give you free drinks – bring ID,” the website says.
In addition to offering customers the chance to vent their anger at the staff, Karen’s offers a selection of burgers, chicken wings, ice cream, and waffles.
If you fancy one of the burgers — which include vegetarian and vegan options — you can ask for tastes like “Karen’s Got Real Beef,” “The Fiery Karen,” and “The ‘I Wants To See Your Manager.’” Karen”.
These can all be washed down with cocktails, beer, wine, “thickshakes” and other soft drinks, or house shooters, including “The Music’s Too Loud”, “I’ve Been Waiting 10 minutes for a favor” and “You ‘I just lost my business’.
The website adds: ‘Our staff are rude, our manners are non-existent and we are the perfect place for Karen to express her anger and dismay at the world everywhere.
“Come on, ask the manager… WE DARE YOU.”
The restaurant chain’s Aaron Rovuck told Sunrise that diners provide “a somewhat theatrical dining experience and let some of your pent up emotions out and kind of go the Karens trend.”
Speaking about the idea behind the restaurant, he told the programme, “How about letting the public not worry about their etiquette for a second and letting out some pent-up rage and the staff here are happy to do that. take.
“We want you to truly become the Karen you were meant to be.”
